Gift/礼物
1. How often do you buy others gifts?
I always buy gifts for my friends on special days, such as certain holidays and birthdays These special days are usually distributed among different months, so it is hard to answer this question. Normally, I will buy more than 20 gifts in a year for my friends.
2. Do you like to send others expensive gifts?
No, I never send my friends something expensive as a gift. Maybe expensive gift in somebody’s eyes better expresses your love and care towards her, but it also brings about a lot of pressure on your friends for receiving it. In my opinion, the simple but heartily elected gifts are enough.
3. What kind of gifts are popular in your country?
It depends on the age and gender of people giving and receiving gifts. For example, women over 25 might choose cosmetics for their female friends and belts or wine for male friends. People in 40s or 50s generally receive health care products as gifts.Customs in certain areas will also affect the gifts people choose.
4. Why do people send gifts?
Sending gifts is a social tradition for people to enhance relationships with others.
When people give someone gifts, it means that they take this relationship seriously and have never left the receivers behind their mind. Also, the young send gifts to the old to show their respect and care about the life and body of the old.
Music/音乐
1.Do you like music?
If I say I ‘like’ music, that would be the biggest understatement ever. I love it, not any particular music genre though, my taste of music is actually quite mixed up. I think music well expresses various kinds of human souls, which I like very much.
2.What's your favorite kind of music?
I am a rock buff and like all kinds of rock music, say, metal core, industrial metal, classic rock and melodic death metal. My favorite rock band is Oasis. They have been helping me get through my tough days ever since I first listened to their songs.
3.What kind of music is popular in China?
Well I guess it’s fair to say that pop music is quite popular among Chinese people.
There are many famous singers who specialize at pop music in China, attracting millions of fans at all ages. My favorite pop singer is Jay Chow, whose music career has long been a huge success ever since his first debut in Taiwan.
Teachers/老师
1.Do you think you could be a teacher?
你觉得你可以做老师么?
I don’t think I am suitable to be a teacher, I am not a patient man and cannot bear
to repeat the same things frequently. Teachers’ job is really boring to me, you have to
make your explanations as easy as possible for students to fully understand. It is a
challenging job, I am afraid I cannot do it.
2. Do you have a favourite teacher?
你有最喜欢的老师么?
Um… Yeah, I suppose I do, but it’s actually kind of hard to pick out a favourite because I’ve been really lucky with all my teachers. You know, they’ve been really great, at least most of them anyway, but I guess my favourite teacher would have to be my Chinese language teacher, because she was incredible. I mean, the amount of effort she put into her teaching, and her attention to detail, were just amazing. And not only that, but she also showed a genuine care for all of us, which left a really deep impression on me. So yeah, out of all my teachers, I’d say she was probably my favourite.
3.What are the qualities of a good teacher?
好老师所具有的品质有?
I should say a good teacher is one who always is well prepared for the class. And I
guess if the person has a good sense of humour that would help because, you know,
boring, ah, session, nobody would sit in the class, you know, hours after hours.
4.What’s the difference between young and old teachers?
年轻的老师与年长的老师有什么区别?
There’s probably not all that much difference actually, but I guess the main one would be the level of experience. You know, I think it’s fair to say that old teachers tend to have more experience than young ones, and so they’ll be more skilled at adapting to any kind of situation that might arise in class, whereas young teachers might struggle. So that’s one difference, and I suppose another might be the use of technology, cos probably a lot of old teachers might stick to the traditional teaching methods they’re familiar with, whereas young teachers, I think, are more likely to bring technology into their teaching, such as using iPads and laptops in class. So yeah, I’d say these are probably the main differences.
