1. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Success in school and work, the ability to adapt or adjust to a changing condition or circumstance is more important than having excellent knowledge of a job or in a field of study. Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
It’s a highly debated issue what is more important for success in school and work. And this topic can be approached by several different angles due to its complexity. Deeply deliberating over the issue, I also develop my own point of view. I agree that the ability to adapt to changing condition is more important.
First, the ability to adjust to changing circumstance can help people adapt to different position. For example, I was once in charge of the accounting in the clubs. But when I was selected as the leader as the club, I need to develop the ability to adapt to my new position immediately. That is to say, you need to be prepared for any changes if you want to be successful.
Secondly, accommodating to changing condition can allow people have a positive attitude toward any changes. Because the society nowadays keeps changing all the time and is developing the ability to adjust to changes is inevitable. In other words, you can deal with the changes more easily no matter what the condition is. Therefore, the ability to adapt to changing condition is important for success school and work.
However, some people might contend that having excellent knowledge of a job is necessary because everyone needs to specialize in a particular field. Nevertheless, even if you had expertise in a particular field, you still need to adjust to changes since the advancement of knowledge all come from the changes. Hence, developing the ability to adjust to changes is more important.
By and large, with the reason provided above, I contend that ability to adjust to changing circumstance is more important. That is not to say, the other points of view are completely without merits. However, I think the reason I provided above are much stronger.
2. Supervisor and teacher will make a group to do a project and do you think it’s more efficient to work with anyone you wish for or to work with people who think and do things differently?
Our ability as humans to solve problems as a group has always been one of our most important traits as a species. Whether hunting prey with a tribe or handling climate change as a global population, group work is how we tackle our most important tasks. Yet, there are still some basic and unsolved questions about how a group should function. Is it better if the members of a group all think similarly or is it better if group members think differently? I believe it is better if group members think differently.
First, a group of people with different opinions will produce a better result. The more opinions people have, the more ideas they can suggest to the group. After everyone in the group has suggested their own idea, it will be easier to choose the best idea. It is true that there might be some arguments. However, those arguments just mean that the group is trying to figure out which idea is the best one for solving the problem.
Secondly, a group with a wide range of opinions will likely finish a project faster because they are more likely to get the solution right on the first try. If everyone in a group thinks the same way, then they will probably miss problems in their plan. However, if a group has many people who think differently, then they’re likely to question each other’s plans and figure out any problems before they start working. After the group has questioned their plan and solved any problems with it, they’ll have complete certainty that their plan is the right plan. They are less likely to run into major problems thanks to the diverse opinions in their group.
Finally, any good solution needs to please a wide variety of people, so it’s important that a wide variety of people help to make that solution. When a group has many people who think differently, those people are able to speak up if they don’t like the group’s plan. This allows the group to change its plan so that it can please everyone involved. Alternatively, if a group only has people who think similarly, they won’t know their solution has a problem until they finish the plan. Unfortunately for them, it’ll be too late at that point because all of the work is already done.
In the end, I think it’s necessary that a group has many different people with many different ways of thinking in order to efficiently solve problems. It produces better results, it produces those results faster, and it ensures that the results please everyone.
