When it comes to a historical period, what can we talk about?

关于历史时期，我们可以讲些什么？

1 We can talk about global history, and the timeline of historical periods is: Prehistory, including ancient Greece, Shang Dynasty in China, Ancient Romeand so on; Middle Ages, Early Modern Period like Age of discovery (Europe) and Modern Era such as industrial revolution.

我们可以讲全球史，它的时间线是：史前史，包括古希腊，中国的商朝，古罗马，等等；中世纪，近代早期，比如欧洲的大发现时代，近代史比如工业革命。

2 If you are more interested in Chinese history, you can talk about Qin Dynasty, Three Kingdoms, and other Dynasties like Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing. 

如果你对中国历史更感兴趣，你可以讲秦朝，三国时期，以及唐宋元明清等其他朝代。

3 Historical events like discovery of the new continent by Columbus, standardizing the system of weights in and measures in Qin Dynasty, battle of the red cliff in ThreeKingdoms, the opening of the Grand Canal of China during Sui Dynasty, in Tang Dynasty, Wu Zetian became the first Empress, prosperity of the Silk Roads, Zheng He’s travelling to the west and so on.

历史事件比如哥伦布发现新大陆，秦朝统一度量衡，三国时期赤壁之战，隋朝开凿京杭大运河，唐朝武则天上位成为第一位女皇帝，丝绸之路的繁荣以及郑和下西洋等等。

4You can also mention historic sites that you have visited, like Terra-CottaWarriors, the Great Wall, the ancient battle fields of Red Cliff, the GreatCanal, the Silk Roads, the Old Summer Palace and Summer Palace in Qing Dynasty,and it is strongly recommended that you share your trip there.

你也可以提及你去过的历史古迹，比如兵马俑，长城，古赤壁战场，京杭大运河，丝绸之路，圆明园和颐和园，而且强烈推荐你分享自己的旅行经历。

1 General background of this time period, like: in Qin, the political environment isgenerally stable and the production was resumed, the whole country was united and the economy as well as technology started to develop more quickly; in TangDynasty, people’s lives were more lively and colorful, songs and dances became popular and people had much freedom indressing and  women had higher social status, trading and exporting with foreign countries flourished and it had a rich culture and art, there were many greatpoets, calligraphers, painters and musicians; while Three Kingdoms, it was a period of disunity and a lot of attacks and wars, so people lived a hard life and suffered in poverty.

这段时期的大体背景，比如在秦朝，政治环境整体稳定，恢复生产，国家统一，经济和科技开始快速发展；在唐朝，人们的生活丰富多彩，歌舞开始流行，人们着装有更多自由，女性有更高的社会地位，贸易出口频繁，有丰富的艺术和文化，比如有很多伟大的使人，书法家，画家以及音乐家等等；而在三国时期，却是一个不统一的、纷乱的时期，有很多战乱，百姓生活艰苦而贫困。      

2 Describing these important historic events such as talking about the reasons, people involved, process and influence of these inventions, wars, revolution, tradingand so on.

1 I just wonder …/ I’m curious about …e.g. why he did it, for his own ambition or for the whole country; how he/she/people managed to do it, what people’s lives were really like, how people truly felt aboutit, what he/she looked like, the style of their architectures and dressing…

3 Historyis like a mirror, sometimes it repeats itself. By learning history, we can avoid making the same mistakes and achieve more in the future.
