Describe a time when a piece of equipment was broken(such as TV)
You should say:
What it was
What problem it was
What you did after it was broken
And explain how you felt about it
I wanna talk about the time when I had my lamp fixed last month. Well, I actually didn’t expect it could be fixed, so it actually surprised me a little. I am a real bookworm and I especially enjoy reading before sleep. My father indulges me in this and he bought me a lamp as a gift when I was still a child. It’s a really simple lamp, without a redundant design. The lamp seat is made of brass which is(台灯的底座是铜的) pretty heavy. Well, if you look at it today, it’s pretty old fashioned. Almost like an antique(差不多算是个古董了). But I love it! It’s been with me for over twenty years by now! But nothing lasts forever, don’t they say? When I turned on the lamp the other night, I got no light! My heart sank for a minute. I then tried again, still nothing. I jumped out of bed to check what’s wrong. Well it seemed like the bulb had burned out. I wasn’t completely sure about it though, cause like I said, I’m a bookworm, lacking manual dexterity(动手能力不强). I took it to the shop with caution trying to get skilled people to change a bulb for me. Seriously, I had to travel across half of the city to find the right bulb for it! Like I said, it is an obsolete lamp. Shops don’t sell it anymore(就想我说的,这个台灯过时了,许多商店已经不卖这种样式的灯了。). But anyway, it was all worth the trouble. With a changed bulb, it’s good as new! (换个灯泡,台灯跟新的一样。).
