我今天要说的是一个更“高级”一些的问题：为什么中国人说英语，听起来那么武断和幼稚？

许多人没有意识到自己有这方面的问题，稀里糊涂的就被考官压了分。下面是我近期在模考中遇到的一些真实案例。我把考生的回答逐字打下来，大家一起品味下  (不细究其他错误，重点是让大家体会“表达不要太绝对” 这个点）。

Do you often exercise?

考生回答：Yes, I go jogging every day.

考官心里想：真的吗？每天？你真的每天都跑，这么绝对？还是你只会说这几个词？

原文修改：

1. 如果你不是每天都跑：Yes, I go jogging pretty much every day, unless it rains. 只要天气允许，我差不多每天都跑步。

2. 真战士，风雨无阻：Yes, I go jogging every day, come rain or shine.

添加一个短语，考官就非常明确知道你是属于哪种情况了。

Do you like living in flats?

考生回答：I love to live in flats. Because they are very small and easy to clean compared to big house.

考官心里想：Really？Are you sure about that? Flats还分一房，两房….五房，六房呢。你敢说所有flats都很小？

原文修改：I love to live in flats. Because compared to big houses, they are generally smaller and easier to clean. 

正确使用比较级，重点不是“公寓都很小”，而是“公寓一般比house小, 比house更容易打扫”。

Which is more important, price or quality?

考生回答：...I will consider the quality and will not consider the price,

考官心里想：真!土!豪！不过看你一身穿着挺朴实的呀，隐藏的这么深？

原文修改：I value quality over price. 

value sth over sth. 我觉得质量比价格重要。我不是完全不看价的土豪！

What sport do you like?

考生回答：…basketball, which is the most popular sport all over the world.

考官心里想：巧了，这个运动在我们英国就不是the most popular。

原文修改：…basketball, which is one of the most popular sports among people I know.

加了one of 就缓解很多了; 而且地点和人群范围不要太大，可以说among young people in my city/country,  但别扯到全世界，把考官都代表了。

Do you like to study in a quiet environment or a noisy one?

考生回答：...study in a place without any noise...

考官心里想：这年头，在城市里真能找到完全零噪音的地方吗？然后你还能在那儿学习？

原文修改：… without much noise … OR with no excessive noise … 

（no excessive noise的意思是合理噪音，不要隔壁一直party，楼上一直钻墙，楼下一直beep beep beep就行。其实这才是生活在城市中的合理情况，不是吗？）

跟any类似的一个词是never，比如我经常听到…I never have the chance to … never就太过绝对啦，改为barely OR rarely 就恰当的多了。

What are the problems with using too much mobile phones?

考生回答：Many people use cell phones instead of sports. Everyone is fat.

考官心里想：全中国都是胖子？我看你就挺苗条的呀！

原文修改：Excessive use of cell phones can contribute to sedentary habits that result in weight gain. 

过度使用手机让很多人养成了久坐不运动的习惯，久坐不动导致了增重。

What can children learn from playing games?

考生回答：I think it depends on what kind of games they play, if they play some toy bricks, they are very creative, in the future, they will have high talent on designing things, and people who like drawing games, he will become an artist.

考官心里想：你是儿童教育学家？敢说的这么绝对？几乎所有小孩小时候都玩积木，他们长大了都有设计天分？

原文修改：…playing toy bricks can foster creativity and drawing games may help cultivate their artistic ability.  

游戏能做的是帮助培养某方面的技能和兴趣。不是做了A，就一定能获得B。

以上是我近期在模考中遇到的一些真实案例。在考官看来这就是：语言基础不扎实，不了解词汇用法，不了解短语用法，降低分数！
